Early 80's photo of me and my Super Nova at Coyote Hills in NoCal.

I am interested in finding anyone who is also interested in slope flying?. Slope Racing? Flying sites? etc. That is the reason for this site!

What am I flying?

I started R/C soaring in 1980, when I moved to Los Gatos, CA, I had a buddy in high school who got me into it. I spent several years flying with the South Bay Soaring Society mostly sloping at Sunset Beach, Coyote Hills and Davenport.

I have been back in to flying for a couple of years after about a 15 year lull. I had always flown slope in Northern California and thought all my planes (a Rich Spicer Nova (before his RnR days) was my favorite) were useless when I moved to the Midwest (Milwaukee, WI). HLGs piqued my R/C interest again but my heart yearned for the slope, a 30mph wind and a ballasted rocket.

I noticed that when the wind is coming out of the east, the bluffs along Lake Michigan can be a pretty good substitute for the cliffs at Sunset Beach or the site at Davenport in NoCal and so I am back on the hills!
