Second Annual Wisconsin Silent Flight Conference
Posted by Lee Murray on Jan 31, 2005, 21:36

Saturday, February 5th, 2004 - 11:00 AM to about 4:00 PM

Place: Oakfield Village Center - 8 to 10 miles SW of Fond du Lac.
There is no entry fee although donations will be taken to cover the minimal cost for using the Village Center.

Participants are expected from around the state and perhaps beyond to talk about what is going on with Hand Launch Gliders, Slope Soaring (videos and models), Electric Launch Gliding including Elexaco, Thermal Soaring, Scale Soaring and whatever else we want to talk about.

Please bring models or other soaring stuff to talk about.  There are no fast food restaurants in Oakfield but Duey Boelk will have roasted ham on hand with buns.  If you want to bring something it could be a small dish, desert, potato chips etc.  I'll provide soft drinks.  Please come even if you don't have anything to share. We want to see you there.

From the North, take Hwy 41 South to Hwy 151. Go South to County D then South into Oakfield to County Y (Main St.) Go south to stop sign. The Village Center is at this intersection.

From Milwaukee, take Hwy 41 North to Hwy 49 West to County Y North (by Grande Cheese) into Oakfield.  Follow Y to the stop sign in the center of the village. The Village Center is at this intersection.

From Madison,  take151 North past Waupaca to Cty AS and turn right or East on AS to Cty D turn left into Oakfield to Cty Y and turn left which is Main St. The Village Center is on the North West corner at the stop sign.

I know there are some great new DVD's and videos around, new designs of HLG, UNL and RES sailplanes, A new Elexaco design by Graham McAllister, Indoor electric models by Bob Johnson and more.  Even indoor rubber power models are increasing in popularity. There should be plenty of things to talk about including how we can grow the event in the future and provide more events throughout the year.  The WI Soaring Champion will be given the traveling trophy.
