Sloping the AvA at Concordia 09-03-07

This was the final stop on my LEG Slopefest weekend. When I past Downtown MKE I saw that the wind was light from the East and, even though I'd just driven about 450 miles I decided to zip another 10 miles past the house and look at Concordia.

When I arrived at Concordia there was a light wind from the Southeast. Just enough air for the AvA, my new favorite light air sloper! Heck the AvA stays in the air when even a Weasel is having a hard time. The most impressive thing about the AvA to casual observers is the size of the thing and the fact that it makes a cool whooshing noise when flown fast and close in. Just because it is sort of a Gasbag Thermal ship doesn't mean you have to fly it that way! Big loops in 5 mph of wind or less, effortless flying 2 feet about the lip of the slope, inverted flight and even passable rolls are all in the quiver of the AvA.

Hmmmm, I wonder how it would DS? After all, it can take a full-pedal winch launch!
