| From slopeflyer.com For Beginners Thoughts from a slope-soaring neophyte. Like most of you, from early childhood to the present, I've always been fascinated with getting things up in the air, watching them, and - to whatever degree possible - trying to control their fate - which is always, everywhere, and ultimately back to terra firma. Today's encounter with slope soaring - my first - was unquestionably the most exhilarating of all such adventures. Inspired by today's experience, I searched the web to see what name the Greeks gave to the god of wind. Most of you probably already know that the Greeks recognized four such gods. Today Euros, the god of the East Wind, was smiling down on me. I've watched the gulls countless times before, envying their loftiness, never taking them for granted. Hereafter, I will always feel that I can participate in their elegance. Bob Maleske © Copyright 2000-2007 by slopeflyer.com |
