Milwaukee Slope Flying 04-03-07
We got a brief bit of east wind today and I made it to Big Bay Park. I was only looking at 7 or 8 mph but some is better than none and I had just watched the Menez-hom movie from a couple of years ago. It was at:
It is big and about 65megs or so but has 25 minutes of VTPR (loosely translated that means very close to the ground) slope flying. Very cool.
Anyway. I was inspired to fly but I had to mostly make do with my Weasel Pro. While it has no rudder to help with some of the aerobatics possible it is still a blast to do close in aerobatics just a few feet in front of me.
I also took out my Fun-1. Still a good plane but it will not make its annual pilgrimage to Kansas for the ODR race this year so I had to at least get it out and make sure it is in flying condition. It is still an excellent plane despite the wing I broke DSing it and subsequently repaired. Fuse too. I should not have tortured the poor thing as it was never intended for DS. I built mine light and had to carry 2.5 ounces just to meet the minimum weight requirement. After the repairs I am right at the lower limit so I guess that is OK. The wind was pretty light but I could have won races today!
