SH-50

The Planes pages are organized by specific r/c sailplane. Click on the links below to check out stories about this great slope plane.

SH-50 Fuselage Construction
Posted by Greg Smith on Feb 2, 2003, 22:05
This will be a 2-part fuse. The front half will be Kevlar and Epoxy, laid up over a male mold, which extends just past the wing. The tail boom will be made with Kevlar and Epoxy using a cone of Mylar as a former. The 2 will be mated after they are released from their respective molds.

SH-50 Wing Construction
Posted by Greg Smith on Feb 2, 2003, 22:02
The first wings will have a 50 inch span. They will be made from fiberglass, Kevlar, epoxy and foam. We will be using a vacuum bagging system to hold it together while the epoxy cures.

SH-50 Project
Posted by Greg Smith on Feb 2, 2003, 21:56
The idea behind this plane is to home-brew a compact versatile sloper that is light enough to fly a 30-foot hill and strong enough to ballast up for heavier winds on bigger hills.

SH-50 2001 update
Posted by Greg Smith on Dec 2, 2001, 21:48
The SH-50 has been my go to plane for most of the year. In 2001 I had several hundred flights on it and it keeps coming back for more.

SH-50 Compact Sloper
Posted by Greg Smith on Feb 2, 2001, 21:43
The SH-50 is a 50" sloper designed to be light, fast and strong. Our slopes are mostly small and under 150 feet high. It is really nice to have a plane that is super manuverable and doesn't need a whole lot of sky to have fun.
