Opus V DS Installation Pictures
Posted by Greg Smith on Apr 21, 2003, 21:50

These are pictures of the Opus V DS. This is an extra strong dynamic soaring version of the Opus specd by Espen Torp and imported in the US by Greg Smith.

The plane comes nearly ready to fly. All that is needed is to install the radio equipment. I used Hitec HS-85MGs all around, a Hitec Superslim, a square 700mah battery and a standard switch. I also used Gary Legerton's finishing kit that includes all the parts not factory supplied from carbon pushrods to the lead shot for the nose. The coolest thing about Gary's kit is the ease of installation. No holes to drill and easy access to the radio equipment in the nose if needed. I also used a Hoopes harness for one click connection of the wing servos.

The wing servo installation was typicla of a molded plane and presented no unique challanges.

The pictures below show a few of the more interesting parts of the installation.

The wing saddle must be relieved a bit to accomodate the slide in tray

There is a center rib in the wing. The servo wiring holes go on either side.
